We all get older.  A proven fact.  And we all need to take better care of ourselves.  I am no exception to this.  So I decided several weeks ago, to start a diet and exercise program of my own.  I don’t like health clubs; for the simple fact that they are crowded, noisy and expensive to say the least.

So in August I started power walking.  This, I am discovering, is cathartic as well as addictive.  I am up now to one mile in twenty mintues; all the while taking advantage of the quiet morning and a fantastic view of my local mountain ranges.  Once home, I employ a few different exercises with free weights; targeting areas that are not helped with my walk.

I’ve also completely changed my eating habits.  I was never a breakfast person per say, and when I did eat breakfast it was full of fat, salt, and other not-so-healthy choices.  Now I eat a light, nutritious breakfast; most mornings I make homemade fruit smoothies.  Or I will grab a bagel and top it with cream cheese and a bit of fresh boneless salmon.  It feels so good to be doing this.  The only problem I have is deciding lunch.  I’m still researching and working on how to make this meal less boring.  Dinner is a no-brainer.  I just watch what and how much I’m forking in.

I’ve also narrowed my coffee intake down to only two cups a day.  By Christmas I’d love to cut out caffeine all-together.  It just doesn’t taste good anymore, and since I take mine with cream and sugar, knocking that out will do the body good too.

I discovered wheat grass yesterday morning.  When I am too lazy to make my own smoothies, I head up to our local Juice It Up place and buy one there.  Good stuff!  Everytime I go in there, and am looking at their selection board to make my choice, I notice a section that touts Wheatgrass Shots.  Available in 1 or 2 ounce shots.  After researching the benefits of wheatgrass, I decided to order one yesterday.  It’s not for everyone, but I like it a lot.  I actually watched a gal smash wheatgrass, that was cut from a large swatch of growing grass, and out came this deep green juice.  I had natural energy for the entire day!  Like I said, it’s not for everyone however.  It’s on the bitter side.  But if you want to get your daily intake of veggies etc., this will do ya.

My goal is to be lighter, healthier and happier come my birthday next year.  I also want to increase my power walking to running in the coming months.  It’s only up from here….:-)

It is morning, quiet morning.
The honey-colored morn tiptoes silently,
through the lifting opaque sheers;
a mellow dew upon its wings,
sparkling shifting, sweet summer fairy dust.

I arise to inhale the sunrise,
stars, nearing sleep in the purple horizon leaving,
shimmer, ever so pale now in the saffron mist,
that warms the beckoning footpath below.

It is morning, quiet morning
as waves far off beneath a pale rose horizon,
gently lick the smooth white sand shore.
The green earth tilts through a sphere of clear air,
and bathes in the vastness of space and time.

Emerald vine leaves tickle my window pane.
Dew-drops sing to the garden stones.
The robin concurs with the delicate chinaberry tree;
ever repeating three clear tones to the heavens,
to my heart.

It is morning, quiet morning
I pause in the light to love you again.
Upright and firm you stand on a star undaunted,
immense and free as a cloud.

I will dedicate this moment before my soul,
to him alone, for this is his song.

It is morning, quiet morning,
there are horses neighing within far-off memories.
Tossing their long manes, silently calling us to confession.
We two departing, upon the breath of spirits,
….wherefore to… I care not.

To Not Lie With Me Again
 (The Night Of The Moth)

Desire.
And all the sweet pulsing aches.
The endless hurtings that were you,
have finally melted into the August deep.

My soul coughs, releasing your congestion to the wind….

Now in the valley’s cool night,
you appear mocking to not lie with me again,
while the moon turns away from the fray,
and the stars beckon with another’s eyes.

My laughter escapes, now forgetting your realm…

And I with my thrice bright promises,
and with my sharp, rigid bayonet,
pierce the opaque weight of your dwelling,
spilling your memories into the warm earth;
that once drained my fragile heart.

Pirouetting with amethyst energies, my voice returns…

I bind the moth who sought the flame. I bind the moth who played a game.
I bind the moth that chose to dance. I bind the moth of second chance.

Greetings!

I never really envisioned myself publishing a blog, but I have been asked by several people if I had one, so the need seems to be there for one reason or another.

My intention is for this to be a place where I can post some of my art, photography and of course my writing.  It’s in the baby stages presently, and I hope to have a lot more for you to look at and discover.  In the tabs above you will also find a bit more about me as well as in the links to the right.  So bear with me while I get this contraption off the ground.

Thanks so much for looking in!
